Easily make an authentic, delicious Dole Whip at home with just 2 ingredients, with or without an ice cream maker, & it’s vegan!

It was created by Dole Food Company, the sponsor of the Walt Disney Enchanted Tiki Room. This was the first refreshment they offered and is a whipped, soft-serve flavored like Dole pineapples. They now offer other flavors like raspberry and a swirl with the two flavors.
Recreating Dole Whip that is authentic to the Disneyland Dole Whip was difficult because the original recipe contains many commercial ingredients you can’t buy. I tested 7 versions of this recipe to yield the best possible texture and taste at home without using any hard-to-find ingredients. You’ll find me doing this with other Disneyland treats like churro toffee.

🍍Ingredients in Disneyland’s Dole Whip
The ingredients at the park may surprise you, as the list is long and contains a lot of ingredients only available in commercial production.

You can actually purchase the dry Dole Whip mix, mix it with water, and run it through your ice cream maker to recreate the exact version you get in the parks.
Ingredients in pineapple-flavored Dole Soft Serve
Sugar, dextrose, stabilizers (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, locust bean gum, guar gum, karaya gum, pectin, cellulose gum, xanthan gum), coconut oil, contains 2% or less of each of the following: maltodextrin, citric acid, natural & artificial flavor, modified food starch, malic acid, beta carotene (color), mono & diglycerides, silicon dioxide (anticaking).
📖Disneyland’s 2020 Released Recipe
Another option if you don’t have an ice cream maker is the use the method Disney shared with the world in 2020. While this is not the real recipe they use in the parks, it’s a close dupe. These are the ingredients for the Disney recipe:
- 2 cups frozen pineapple (canned or fresh)
- 4 oz. pineapple juice
- 1 large scoop of vanilla ice cream
To make, blend the above ingredients then freeze it overnight in a sealed container to scoop or pipe.
The taste of this version will vary wildly based on the brand of vanilla ice cream that you use.
👩🍳How to Make This Recipe
The best way to achieve a smooth, authentic Dole whip texture is with an ice cream attachment for your stand mixer or ice cream maker. It’s not possible to get the same smoothness any other way.
However, if you don’t have an ice cream maker, you can still make a fantastic pineapple treat. See below for instructions.

Continue with an ice cream maker
If you don’t have an ice cream maker, skip to the next section.

Note: If you are measuring the temperature with an instant-read thermometer, it should be 40 degrees Fahrenheit. You can leave it in the refrigerator overnight if you like.
The texture is best when served immediately after running through the ice cream maker. Scoop it or pipe it with a star-shaped piping tip. It helps to chill your hand with an ice pack or under cold water to help keep it from melting the Dole Whip as you pipe it.
You can freeze it, but the texture will change as it hardens. You will end up with more of a pineapple icy than the soft-serve texture. Transfer it to a freezer-safe container, cover with parchment paper or a lid, and freeze.
Continue without an ice cream maker
The texture, in my opinion, is not as smooth as if you use an ice cream maker, but it’s still delicious!

2-Ingredient Dole Whip
Equipment
- Ice Cream Attachment or Maker optional
- Star Piping Tip optional
Instructions
- Add the pineapple chunks with juice and the sweetened condensed milk to your blender. Blend until no chunks remain, about 30 seconds.
- Transfer to a container and chill in the refrigerator until it reaches 40 degrees Farenheit, or at least 4 hours. You can leave it in the refrigerator overnight.
- Add your chilled pineapple juice to the ice cream maker. Churn (stir setting) until it is the thickness of soft serve ice cream, 18-22 minutes.
- It is best served immediately*. Or, transfer to a container you can freeze, cover with parchment paper or a lid, and freeze.
- Add it to a zipper bag, seal it, and freeze it flat. OR freeze it in mini ice cube trays. Once frozen, break it up into chunks, and blend it until smooth. The texture, in my opinion, leaves much to be desired.
- Scoop or pipe using a star piping tip.

I’m gonna buy the mix and use a blender, will that work? I’m also gonna buy frozen pineapple and condensed milk to see which one is better. Will the mix work with a blender?
I’ve never tried it, so I can’t say. Anyone else?
If you give it a try, we’d love to hear how it goes!
